Zac and Cael got to work on the vegetable garden. They built the frame and prepped the space.
Cael smoothed out the dirt (and kept hydrated at the same time ... he's an excellent multi-tasker) ...
... and placed a few plants.
He even got in on the watering process.
The garden is off to a good start and we will definitely have more jalapenos than we will know what to do with this summer ... drop me a line if you need any!
It is also surely spring when turkey season arrives. Cael was quite entertained by the decoys as Zac packed ...
... especially once he figured out that the turkey was an excellent stand-in horse.
Since Zac was out of town this weekend, we decided to spend a little time with animals as well. If you find yourself between Oklahoma and DFW with toddlers in tow, the Frank Buck Zoo is truly amazing. My parents came along as did my sweet nephew, Grayson.
We spent the morning visiting giraffes, zebras, tortoises, bears, and bison. The boys happily took in the sights and had a good time exploring the zoo ... it was walkable for the little guys and they could see so much without needing to be carried around.
Cael's favorite animals appeared to be the goats although I think he would have been as equally excited about anything that he was allowed to feed.
The zoo was awesome but the fun didn't end there. There is a huge park right outside the zoo with room to run and a giant play area to explore. On top of that, there is also an adorable train that runs around the park ... what more could two train enthusiast toddlers ask for? We topped off the day with a picnic lunch and one final run through the play area.
It was a beautiful opening weekend for spring ... but maybe not for the turkeys :)
