We've had a lot going on in the 3 months that passed since I last updated our blog. Selling our home, buying a new one and planning our move has certainly been a focal point of life, but more on that later ... we'll first talk about our cute little kid. Cael's latest and greatest adventures took place last week in Aruba.
Although Cael racked up more air miles in his first year than the average American, we hadn't flown with him since he's been "on the move" and were a little nervous as to what sort of travel experience we would have with full days of air travel on either end of our trip.
Our little guy seemed right at home as he monitored the ground crew ...
Settled in for one of MANY snacks ...
And even took a couple of naps ...
He did a great job on the flights and in no time he was enjoying himself on his Aruban vacation. He dug and played in the sand ...
He splashed in the pool ...
And made friends with EVERYONE ... the kid was seriously a one-man greeting committee and I'm surprised that the Aruba Convention and Visitors Bureau or the Marriott Surf Club didn't try to hire him.
Cael's fun-filled days of beach adventures ...
... and iguana hunting ...
... led to some serious napping ... even mid-snack.
Below are a few other favorite shots from our trip:
Dinner at Benihana is a Couturiaux family tradition and Cael was totally into the experience.
He was awestruck by the chef and everything that he was doing on that grill ...
... and he was thrilled with his fried rice that night.
Cael had fun exploring with Zac ...
... and I love his little footprints in this picture:
It was a beautiful trip filled of wonderful times with family (Cael loves his cousins!) and great memories with Cael.
Our return home has been bittersweet. We have a contract on our home and are scheduled to close tomorrow. We feel very blessed to have sold our home quickly and are so excited to be near family in the DFW area but we are very sad to leave (and we could totally pass on the whole packing thing too ... yuck).
One of my favorite parts of our home is the view from our kitchen windows. Over the past 3 years I have very purposefully tried to appreciate what I see when I look out those windows. Tears have definitely come to my eyes over the past couple days as I take in the scenes that I love so much for the last few times.
I'll miss the deer that we came to "know" and care for ... I look forward to seeing them and I'll miss the excitement that Cael has when he sees them.
I will also miss watching their sweet little fawns run and play.
I'll miss watching Cael explore his yard.
And I will miss watching him spend time in this setting with his dad.
I know the attachment that I feel to this "view," our home and our life in Bulverde is a wonderful gift and while I am sad to close this chapter of our lives, I am ecstatic to see what amazing plan lies ahead for our family.
